With a thumping V8 under the hood and a brand new revised handling package you may be thinking that the 2010 Mustang GT might be a lot of car for the 370z to go up against. The price tags are similar enough and they have two doors a piece but that’s about where the similarities end.
The Mustang seemed sloppy when it came time to use the steering wheel and downright dangerous when the road got twisty. In a straight line however they’re hard to split apart both going and stopping.
The Mustang wins when you need to take anyone anywhere with anything but the Z wins at being more of a focussed sports car.
Bottom line is the Z wins deservedly. Check the video and more photo galleries at Edmunds.com.
Central 20, one of the premier Z tuners in Japan, have again broadened their range of tuning parts for the Z34 recently with the development and release of an ECU update and a set of exhaust manifolds for the VQ37VHR engine.
The Central 20 Super Computer is a flash update to the standard ECU that provides several functions. The speed limiter is removed, timing, CVT and eVCT maps are also modified. The result is a increase in torque at the low end and higher peak power. Response is also improved throughout the rev range. The ECU update is available for both manual and auto Z34′s. Price is 94,500 yen for the fully tuned ECU update or just 42,000 yen if you just want the speed limiter removed.
The next product release is the Central 20 High Power Manifolds. These 48.6 mm diameter main pipes lead into a single 60 mm pipe. These are designed to again increase torque and power and are well matched to the other Central 20 exhaust components.
HKS have released their Racing Suction intake kit for the Nissan 370z this week. The Racing Suction kit replaces the standard airboxes completely with a pair of HKS foam type air filters and a aluminium hard piping kit.
For those who are not overly keen on replacing a pair of perfectly good factory airboxes, HKS also have some high flow panel replacements known as the HKS Super Hybrid filter system. Check those out in our previous post.
STILLEN have a long and distinguished track record with previous Z cars and have been privileged to work with the VQ engine for a long time now. They’ve put their broad experience to work now that they’ve received their protect 370z to quickly launch a full stainless exhaust system.
This full dual exhaust is made in stainless steel with 4.5″ polished stainless tips. It promises an 18 rwhp power gain, an aggressive exhaust and no annoying in cabin drone.
The STILLEN guys have also gone to the trouble to film the exhaust note to help you make up your mind. Check it out below.
Not much explanation required just watch the video. Sports Illustrated swimsuit models being taken for a joyride in the new Nissan Z car. Hilarity ensues to some degree. Entertaining even if more Z footage would be good.
