TAS09: Mine’s 370z – All That And More

January 28th, 2009

tas09-370zblog-mines-105

The Mine’s 370z was truly one of the highlights of the show. One of the best known tuners in Japan had big expectations to live up to and in true Mine’s fashion it managed to live up to those expectations and exceed them by far.

New on the Mine’s Z is a dry carbon front lip spoiler, dry carbon fibre rear wing carbon antenna cover and dry carbon front Air Scoop Type-IIs in the standard front bumper. These subtle highlights offset the traditional white Mine’s colour scheme to perfection.

In terms of power, Mine’s has installed a Mine’s VX-ROM ECU, Mine’s VX-AIR Filter, engine oil cooler and a Mine’s Silence-VX PRO Titan II Titanium Exhaust.

Wheels are a new favourite, Rays Volk Racing TE37 Generation2 (G2) in 20″ size and behind those are a set of Cusco Type-RS coilovers. On the inside are Recaro SP-G seats with Takata MPH-340R harnesses.

TAS09: Introducing the IMPUL 934S

January 26th, 2009

tas09-370zblog-impul-100

IMPUL have a long history of complete cars based on popular Japanese models and their latest is the IMPUL 934S based on the Nissan 370z. The prototype 934S was on display at Tokyo AutoSalon earlier this month.

As usual the IMPUL total tuning package 934S comes with power, aero and handling upgrades aplenty. Firstly and most obviously is the new aero kit. An aggressive front bumper gives it a trademark IMPUL facelift, sideskirts, rear half bumper and rear wing complete the look while not going overboard.

Wheels are 19″ IMPUL Racing Aura SR-08, again another IMPUL traedmark, in sizes 19×8.5 +21 front and 19×9.5+29 rear. Hidden behind is a IMPUL brake system and IMPUL suspension system.

Making the extra hp on the 934S is the IMPUL Extra Power Kit which includes IMPUL Hi-Power Control Unit ECU and a IMPUL Power Throttle Body upgrade.

TAS09: Nismo S-Tune Z – Factory Goodness

January 13th, 2009

tas09-370zblog-nismo-101

Nismo’s S-Tune Z finally made itself available for our viewing pleasure at Tokyo AutoSalon. It’s one thing to see a car in a manufacturers promotional material but it’s a completely different thing to see it in the flesh and I bet you were all wondering if it really was that good? Well I can safely say that yes it’s damn good. For a big name car manufacturer such as Nissan to make an aero kit this good it signals that something is going right inside the company.

The Nismo S-Tune Z isn’t actually a Nismo product at all however, it’s designed and manufactured by Autech, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nissan which in the past has done quite a number of special version Nissans we know and love. The four door R33 GT-R, the RB26 powered Stagea wagon and the bizzare naturally aspirated RB26 four door R32 to name a few. It wears the Nismo badge simply because of the way Nissan corporate has structured the Nismo street tune parts business these days. That and it sounds good and carries that international brand awareness thing with it.

All this means is that the parts are tested to Nissan’s own high quality standards and are built to the same standards as the rest of the Z.

The Nismo S-Tune Z is a great car to see and to have a warranty to go with it is another great plus. It’s going to be interesting to see what Nissan North America do with the Z NISMO coming to the US this year.
