Japanese NISMO Edition 370z Spotted in the Wild

June 8th, 2009

20090607-nismo-09

Yep we’ve seen NISMO special edition Z34s before but, not this one. At first thought one would expect any Nismo badged 370z to be another mildly tweaked Autech Nismo S-Tune but this bears more resemblance to the 380RS in it’s aero design. It’s got wider tires than standard and Yamaha Performance Suspension. Could Nismo be preparing a more seriously tuned 370z ala 380RS?

Of course the basic facts are that this could just be a US NISMO edition that wound up in Japan instead. In fact, now that I think about it – that’s almost certainly what it is. Damn.

Pro Stock Racing’s RS-S Class 370z at Z Challenge Tsukuba

June 2nd, 2009

20090605-zchallenge-01

Japanese tuning house Pro Stock Racing have been quietly having a go at building their own 370z for circuit work and so far we like where they are heading. Spotted out on Tsukuba circuit during the recent Z Challenge round #1 event, Pro Stock managed to take home the first trophy of the season winning with a best lap of 1:04.664 in very wet conditions.

1:04.664 in such a torrent is a very quick time, too bad it wasn’t dry so we could really see what this car could manage. Round #2 is coming up later in June on the 28th.

Phoenix Power Kits Out their Nissan 370z

May 23rd, 2009

phoenixpower-z-106

Phoenix Power aren’t aero designers. They’re more than happy to take what they see working on the car and run with it. That is, they’ll tune the car but leave making it pretty up to the experts. In the case of their GT-R project it was a full Zele kit and for the Nissan 370z it’s BRANEW.

I bet you didn’t think the BRANEW kit could look this good or be seen on a “real” tuner’s project car, but here it is. Wearing BBS LM’s that Phoenix Power have proven to be quite partial to, it looks the business. These rims certainly look more suitable than the humongous BRANEW BW-101 22″ wheels we saw at Tokyo AutoSalon.

May 19th, 2009

impul-new-z34-001

While popular at Tokyo AutoSalon in January the IMPUL 934S aero kit was certainly controversial in it’s design. IMPUL have gone back to the design phase and reworked the front end completely. The rear half bumper, side skirts and wing remain but the updated front bar is joined by a new front lip spoiler to complement.

Overall the look is better than ever.

Power House Amuse Launch 370z Exhausts

March 25th, 2009

z34_rs-silent_gold

Japanese tuning legends Power House Amuse have come up with a range of their trademark top shelf quality exhausts for the new Nissan 370z. Launching in Japan this week they come in two main styles.

The first is the Power House Amuse R1 Titan Extra STTI. This features a 76.3mm main pipe diameter feeding into pair of 2x 50mm internal diameter mufflers before finally exiting out a pair of 115mm tips. This total system weighs in at 9.15kg which is less than half the weight of the 18.65kg standard exhaust. It’s available in the standard version for 239,400 yen or a “Gold Ring” version for 249,900 yen.

Next is the RS-Silent STTI muffler which is a little different, firstly a 76.3mm collector splits into 2x60mm pipes which make their way towards the rear mufflers through a pair of resonators. The rear mufflers have an internal diameter of 60mm and again the end in a pair of 115mm tips. This system is quieter but you pay for it in weight and material costs. Weighing in at 10.3kgs it starts at 333,900 yen for the standard version or 344,400 yen for the “Gold Ring” version.

For those interested, check out your nearest Power House Amuse dealer for more information.
