December 30th, 2008

ARC have to be the biggest name in Japanese tuning cooler manufacturing. They’ve partnered with MCR to develop engine and differential coolers for the new Z and Option Magazine has photographed them in some detail.

Above you can see the front mounted engine oil cooler core which is discretely mounted to prevent reducing any airflow to the radiator.

MCR and ARC will have these on display at Tokyo AutoSalon in January of 2009. The show starts in Friday the 9th.

MCR’s work of art exhaust, the Crimson Exhaust, for the Nissan Z has been completed for the new 370z. Here’s some photos courtesy of ZCar-World.net in Japan of it fitted to the MCR Z.

This exhaust retails around for 472,000 yen mark on the 350z so expect to pay that for the Z34 version.

mcr-370-3

MCR’s
370z preparation is coming along nicely. They’ve recently fitted up a Mono6&6r Endless Brake package along with one of the first Nismo S-Tune aero kits we’ve seen “in the wild”. They’ve also been out filming for Hot Version at Tsukuba for an upcoming DVD issue.

These modifications are on top of that we’ve already detailed in our first article on MCR’s tuning efforts.

Check out the photos in the small gallery below, we look forward to seeing MCR’s new Z in the flesh soon.

MCR Kicks Off the New Z Tuning

December 13th, 2008

20081206-mcr-02

Well MCR have put a solid 600km on their new Z already figuring out how it goes and what needs improvement and a list is already drawn up.

First up is full coilover replacements from Endless. These Endless Zeal coilovers offer full front and rear height asjustability as well as damper adjustment. Once on, the suspension is tweaked to MCR’s specifications. Enkei GTC01 wheels in 18×9.5+38 front and 18×10+22 rear sizes wrapped in Yokohama NEOVA tires are fitted also to complete the footwork modifications.

During hard driving, MCR has noted that the engine oil temp climbs rapidly. If it reaches 135°C the ECU lowers the rev limit to 5900 rpm temporarily. To combat this MCR worked with long time partner ARC to come up with an engine oil cooler. A rear differential oil cooler kit is also planned. A Z33 Nismo LSD completes the rear diff work.

More expected before AutoSalon so stay tuned.
